Emily began dancing at the age of 3. By the tender age of 5 she discovered her passion was classical ballet. She began her training with Miki Casalinos School of Creative Arts. At age 15 she continued her training at the School of Ballet West. After graduation from high school, Emily attended the University of Utah for 2 1/2 years working towards her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Ballet Performance. At that point, family became more important to Emily than performing with a ballet company, so she focused on teaching and raising her family.

She was also privileged to attend Ballet Wests summer program for 2 years in Aspen, Colorado. Emily has had many opportunities to perform through the years. She has been apart of Ballet Wests Nutcracker, Salt Lake Community Theatres production of The Snow Queen, performances at the University of Utah, and as a soloist for a Japanese guest artist at Weber State University.
